Year of 62644
When I think back about the ten years of material and photographs
published here on 62644.com it makes me very sad that most of that is
gone forever. With the old hosting service and the previous designs I
was maxed
out
of archive space after six months. Late in December of 2008 the move to
a new hosting service,
Maxim Hosting in Peoria, Illinois allowed a big
change. This move along with a new design, which incorporates placing
the thousands of photographs on a separate

ordering will allow many years of archive stories, features, and all the
photographs. Currently on 62644.com you will find coverage beginning in
June of 2008. This includes over 250 pages of material at your
fingertips. Understandably this can be a bit
mind-boggling, but as you have seen the material has been separated into
annual link pages which are in turn separated into
monthly link areas to the different stories/features for your viewing. A
far cry from the beginning days 10 years ago as a simple page on AOL's
Homepage section as some of you may remember.
Another tool which has been very effective
in allowing for the massive size of this online publication is
Havana Topix. This is a separate
local
section of the World-wide news gathering publication named
Topix.net. When I became the
local editor of Havana Topix this allowed most of the local/area news to
be placed there for the visitors/readers information.
One of the best tools to find what you are looking for here on 62644.com is the internal search engine which can be found at the bottom of every page. This tool will allow you to find anything published within www.62644.com . It is extremely easy to use, just type in what you are looking for, let's say the "Redneck Fishing Tournament", and click "Find" and you will have a new page listing all the links to pages which mention this event. Yes, this online publication will keep growing in size
just like the visitor numbers do. In today's world the continued decline
of traditional publishing methods and growth of internet based
publications such as the now 10 year old

the way the world gets its information. We are happy and proud to have
been one of the very first online publications to not listen to those
words..."You can't do that." I think the next
10 years will be very interesting.
